Introduction to Personal Genomics
Personal Genomics is the branch of genetics that pertains to the partial or full sequencing of the individual's genome. Such genomics is crucial in predictive medicine and determining behavioral tendencies in humans. One of the techniques used is called Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) analysis. As machines get faster and the cost to sequence human's DNA decreases, DNA seq becomes available to more and more consumers. With the benefits of personal genomics, it also provides a basis for genetic discrimination. Such situations are portrayed in the movie "Gattaca".
