ABOUT

Hi! My name is Jimmy Zhou. I am the current M1 Class Vice President and I'm running to be your next MSU President
Thanks for visiting the site! Please be sure to look through my platforms and don't hesitate to contact me with any questions that you may have! You can use the blue chat icon in the corner or submit a form in the feedback page.

Why I'm running for MSU
Community is very important to me and ever since starting medical school, I've realized the importance of having a supportive community. As MSU president, I want to build this community and improve the educational experience by implementing and improving MSU-funded projects in mentorship, COVID regulations, and additional hands-on clinical experience to name a few. You can see an in-depth explanation of my complete platforms below. My experience as M1 Class Vice President is what makes me a competitive candidate for the position, as I have firsthand experience working with the administration and advocating for and implementing student concerns. I believe that my platforms and ideas are not only impactful but realistic. If elected to the position, I plan on not only working to fulfill my proposed ideas but also listening to the student body and advocating for student needs in administration.

Platforms
Check out my platforms below! Feel free to contact me if you need any clarification.
More hands-on clinical experience opportunities
Work with local EMS agencies and LUMC to provide more on-site clinical opportunities and EMS ride-alongs.

Mentorship
Improving mentorship and continually expanding the existing mentorship program through a better match system. Provide additional options in the matching form beyond just basic info to allow students to pick mentors with similar interests and specialty goals.
Mental Health
As physician burnout becomes an increasingly visible problem in the US, it's important to address these issues early on. I hope to create a peer-to-peer counseling program, in collaboration with SWAG, where medical students can volunteer their time and be paired up in a group with other fellow students who may be experiencing mental health challenges.

Student Organizations/ Orientations
I want to streamline the student organization application process and also collaborate with ministry and student affairs to better transition incoming M1s into their first year in medical school.
Community Building
Restarting Stritch traditions such as a talent show, ping-pong tournament, and chili-cookoff to build and develop the community we already have.

COVID
Work with administration to develop a more concise and streamlined protocol for COVID-related procedures that details testing protocols and a "what to do if you get COVID" plan.
STEP Exams
Create a platform/forum for students to provide/receive advice on STEP Exams. Also, create a centralized place to access third-party resources such as Amboss for STEP.
